Loving God, Loving People, Serving Both

Not-So-Artificial Intelligence

CFBC’s Zoe Cole, Jasper Henley and Vivian Keller took top honors in the Lego robotics competition (core values competition) at Cowan Elementary School.  Lego competition teams must design, build, and program a robot to complete different missions.  Winning the qualifier tournament advances Zoe, Jasper and Vivian to the state competition at Tennessee Tech in February.

New Men’s Ministry Study Series
The Christian Atheist: Believing in God but Living as If He Doesn't Exist
Begins Saturday, Feb. 1, at 8:00 a.m.
The study guide is $8.00, available at the first meeting.
Men of all ages welcome!

Steeple Down; Church Open

Winter storm Isaiah brought down the steeple, but Cowan FBC is open for business as usual.  Come join us!  More about the toppled steeple under the "Photos" tab.  (Photo courtesy Franklin County EMA and Rescue.)

Steeple Update

Church volunteers have hauled away the old steeple and workers have repaired the bald spot on the roof.  Meanwhile, church trustees are working with insurers to acquire a new steeple.

Super Speaker

Well done, Zoe Cole!  She won 1st place in a recent 4-H speech contest for 4th grade.  Zoe is a student at Cowan Elementary School.  Her parents are chair of deacons Erik Cole and children’s director Scarlett Cole.

Cowan FBC Faithful Encouragers had their usual big time with a recent trip to Estill Springs.  Not surprisingly, food was involved.  More pictures under the “Photos” tab.

 1. Flourish is a new Bible-based women’s mentoring program.  The yearlong ministry brings women together as mentors and mentees to study the Word and encourage one another in their walk with Jesus.  More details to come.  Meanwhile, Sylvia Coulson (931-308-7669) would love to talk with all women interested in Flourish.

2. Also on the agenda is Home Group, a new Bible study/fellowship meeting in the home of Kyle and Diana Hatchett.  The group launches soon with a study of the Gospel of John.  Home Group is geared to younger couples, but all ages are welcome.  To learn more, contact Kyle at 931-636-4062.

3. In the new-but-not-new category, the former Monday night adult Bible study now meets on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel.  Men and women of all ages are welcome.  To learn more, call Steve Young at 931-308-8815 or simply come and visit.

4. Also new-but-not-new, the 1st Saturday Men's Ministry resumes Feb. 1 at 8:00 a.m.  Men of all ages are welcome.

Three Classics Now in the Library

Quo Vadis, Ben-Hur and The Robe are waiting for you in the new church library.  Come explore before or after Sunday school.  If you have books or videos to donate, please contact Scarlett Cole, Robin Mays or Carla Willingham.

Soccer star

Congratulations to CFBC member Katherine Clark, recently named to the All-District 6A women’s soccer team.

Katherine is a senior at Huntland High School.

Company's Coming

CFBC family: When you see guests pulling into the new visitor parking slots (two Cowan, two Winchester), please give them an extra-friendly welcome.  Thanks to Logan Lankford for installing the signs, and to Eric Bradford for having them made.

Fresh Start on the New Testament

If you weren’t able to begin the one-year New Testament reading program last October, we started fresh January 5.  Look for new reading guides in the church lobby, or you can download a copy HERE.

Meanwhile, if you started the program last October, just keep reading and enjoying the Word.

Life’s Greatest Question

Do you know for certain that you will go to Heaven when you die? Would you say that is something you are still working on? One thing you can know for sure - God loves you! God's Word is very clear, either you will spend eternity with God or suffer eternal separation.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17

Spotlight on Service - Good News Club

What is Good News Club@? Good News Club is a ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) in which our trained and cleared teachers and staff meet with children at Cowan Elementary School each Tuesday afternoon at 3:00pm. Cowan Elementary School is a place the children are familiar with and can easily navigate and safely join in with their parent or guardian's permission. Each week our teachers present an exciting Bible lesson using colorful materials from CEF Press. This action packed time also includes songs, Scripture memory, a mission story, and review games or other activities focused on the lesson's theme.

The purpose of the Good News Club is to share the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and establish them in the Word of God and in a local church for Christian living.

Want to join us as we teach children about Jesus Christ or enroll your child in the Good News Club? If so, please contact Erik Cole at 931-315-9795.

The Main Thing
The starting point for CFBC is Jesus. Our hunger is to know Him and share His love with those around us. We invite you to know Him and know what it means to be forgiven and truly follow Christ. Life is full of demands, conflicts, struggles and tough decisions. Meeting those challenges takes strength, and that strength can only be found in Jesus Christ, and we unashamedly proclaim Him as Lord! That's why we like to say that CFBC is a great place to belong, filled with loving people ready to welcome you.....We look forward to seeing you this Sunday!

What is Heaven and how do I get there?
What do you think it takes for a person to go to Heaven?  Please review the information found under God's Plan of Salvation icon or if you would like to speak with someone about Eternal Life, please call the church office at 931-967-7506 and speak to Ann.  She will direct you to one of our Ministry Team members to answer your questions.
